Costo receives an impressive order in Luxembourg from a leading logistics service provider to supply a complete system for storage and zone order picking, including WMS.
A leading logistics service provider faced a challenge regarding one of its clients in retail. It became necessary to make adjustments in order to be able to absorb the growth in orders today and in the future. The logistics service provider commissioned Costo to develop and install a semi-automated system on their site in Luxembourg. The system will handle goods reception, storage and dispatch and should be fully operational by Q4 2020.
To achieve the best solution, extensive growth scenarios in order flows and possibilities have been investigated. The range mainly consists of sports apparel, but marketing materials are also stored within the system. Everything is stored in (standard) cardboard boxes or plastic bins. Orders are shipped in cardboard and the WMS determines which box size is required.
The Leading logistic service is very satisfied by the cooperation with Costo: “Our cooperation with Costo was ending up in a customized warehousing solution, which enables our operations to deliver the expected future service level. These service expectations of our Customer could namely be summarize in a higher flexibility towards volume fluctuations by guaranteeing a maximized throughput, which all will lead to an improved and optimized “time to market”-lead time for our customer orders. The solution design workshops were driven by an open-minded and experience based spirit.”
For Costo, this assignment means an enormous expansion in the Benelux area. Hans van den Berg, Commercial Director at Costo comments on the project: “We are very eager to build this complete logistics system including Arrow WMS for this leading logistics service provider in Luxembourg. Our advice and regular consultation with the customer ensured that we could design the most suitable solution”.
New is the 3D and real-time visualization option in the Arrow WMS. This provides an even better overview of the flow of goods. At the loading docks, the products are transported directly from the lorry via a telescopic conveyor to the large conveyor system. After being scanned(RFID), the Arrow WMS determines to which storage location the products must be transported.
